Melanie Silver is the Director of Operations at New Directions for Young Adults. Ms. Silver joined the New Directions team in 2016 as a mentor and is grateful for the opportunity to have grown within the company. Melanie has held many different administrative and managerial positions throughout her years at New Directions. As the Director of Operations, Melanie provides oversight to staff members and to the daily activities of the New Directions program. She helps to ensure quality assurance of services to the clients we serve. Melanie obtained her Masters’ degree in Psychology from The New School for Social Research in 2014. During her schooling, Melanie studied a range of cognitive and behavioral therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Harm Reduction strategies. She completed her internship at Bellevue Hospital, researching Post-Traumatic Stress at the World Trade Center Mental Health Program, and at T.A.R.A., a New York City-based national helpline for borderline personality disorder.
