Jeanette Durand teaches our art group and is a professional artist working in textiles, photography, painting, and creating public art murals. With her interdisciplinary knowledge, she teaches skills that bring out creativity through art, social practice and cultural connections. Jeanette moved to California in 2012 from the Chicago area where she taught at the Oak Park Art League as well as studio camps in the Harrison Street Arts District. Jeanette earned her BFA at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She worked at The Art Institute of Chicago in the Department of Textiles and European Decorative Arts where served as the collection manager for the Thorne Miniature Rooms. Her art work can currently be seen at Global Nomad Gallery in San Francisco and on her website (JeanetteDurand.com). She is also a volunteer working with children at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.
