Jana Corral, MA Psy., LMFT Jana Corral has Master’s Degree in Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She specializes in the treatment of adolescents and young adults. Her extensive experience includes working with clients with: history of Trauma, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autistism Spectrum, Mood and Developmental Disorders. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings with diverse populations including; outpatient treatment, school based programs as well as working with underserved youth and their families. Jana's approach to therapy includes psychodynamic, family systems and cognitive behavior therapy interventions. Additional therapies utilized include Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Play Therapy, as well as self-awareness-based strategies. She also provides social skills training, anxiety reduction in individual and group format. Prior to New Directions for Young Adults, Jana was a Mental Health Therapist for Seneca Center based out of Oakland and Berkeley, CA where she provided individual, family and group therapy.  She helped launch the first of many, special day classrooms on the Berkeley Middle School campus. She also worked as a Mental Health Therapist for Fred Finch Youth Center in Pleasant Hill and Concord, CA where she worked with students in Intensive Day Treatment Classroom. Jana took a few years off from her career to care for her young children.  During that time, she consulted for her husband’s business and held various volunteer roles at Walnut Acres Elementary School in Walnut Creek, CA such as Vice President of Communications on the School PFC Board. She taught and led a program that had curriculum designed to reduce risk factors faced by children, emphasized positive peer interaction, decision making, conflict resolution and resistance skills and adolescents and promote resiliency.
