All students have their life management skill levels assessed upon beginning the program in order to determine the appropriate level of services. Our goal is that each young adult in our program develops the life skills needed to transition to independent living. Some students may need more or less of the following services based on their individual level of independence. Our staff and clinicians are not only trained professionals but experienced life coaches for young adults. We have a separate housing that includes residential care homes for autism, and more typical young adults also. New Directions understands that providing quality transitional housing for adults with intellectual disabilities, is very important to parents.
New Directions is very experienced at treating young adults both on and off the spectrum, we have much experience in how to help young adults with anxiety and depression as well (we understand that many students have comorbid conditions). New Directions has helped countless young adults achieve independence, where other transitional programs for young adults only treat a few common conditions; we offer a comprehensive treatment approach for nearly any condition(s) your young adult may be struggling with. New Directions patented direction therapy, coupled with vocational, social, and educational activities that are custom fit for each student, set us apart from your typical assisted living programs for young adults.
