Why New Directions for Young Adults?
New Directions fosters a collaborative work environment and is structured around providing a clinical approach, both of which are extremely important to the success of our program. I love working at a company that allows individuals the freedom to express their ideas and have a true impact on the success of the company.
What is the focus of your work at NDFYA?
As the Director of Admissions, I am responsible for the entire admissions process from start to finish. I speak with parents and young adults who are interested in our program to answer any questions they may have about the services we offer. From there, I walk them through the entire admissions process which includes setting up a program tour at one of our locations, speaking with the parents to obtain the application and paperwork that we need completed prior to attending a tour, and following up with parents after they attend a tour to assist them with the final steps in the admissions process.
What’s your most memorable NDFYA experience?
Since I have only been here since the start of 2018, I would have to say that the most memorable experience thus far has really been spending time with the individual students and getting to know them. My favorite part about my job is getting to work with the families closely to help them decide the next steps for their young adult. We also recently celebrated the 10 Year Anniversary for NDFYA and it was such a fantastic event that I feel grateful to have been a part of.
How has NDFYA impacted your life?
In a short amount of time, I can honestly say that New Directions feels like a family. Within the first few weeks, I was able to work with almost every single individual at the company and it has helped me to become acquainted with the company very quickly. The people that work here are genuinely good people who want to help others and you can feel that from the moment you walk through the door.
What is your favorite activity outside of the work?
I absolutely love to cook. If I am not at work or hanging out with my family, you can most likely find me in the kitchen experimenting with new recipe ideas.
