Students at New Directions California are living in the Wood Creek apartment complex, a quiet and well maintained community that is directly adjacent to our offices. Wood Creek offers an array of spacious one and two bedroom apartments, in a beautifully landscaped community. Residents also have access to several on site pools and hot tubs, as well as a fitness center and walking trails. Click here to learn about the Wood Creek complex.
In addition, students in our program have easy access to all the recreational opportunities in the San Francisco Bay area. Students can take the BART system from Pleasant Hill to downtown San Francisco in less than 45 minutes. There are numerous hiking and biking trails throughout Pleasant Hill leading to the expansive views at Mt Diablo State Park and Briones Regional Park. Students can also take day trips to the ancient redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument, the beaches of Santa Cruz or any of the numerous professional sports venues in the area. What’s more, the grandeur of Yosemite Valley and the ski slopes of Lake Tahoe are each just 3 hours from our site.
Many of our program participants are also enrolled at Diablo Valley College, just a mile away. With over 22,000 students, DVC is among the largest community colleges in the state and offers students an array of degree and certificate programs from early childhood education to construction. In addition, New Directions California is within 15 minutes of several other colleges and technical schools including Carrington College, JFK University and California State University – East Bay.
