Transitional Independent Living

New Directions California

We are excited to now offer our unique program and multi-disciplinary treatment model. Our CA location was launched in 2013 and is an extension and mirror image of our original clinical program in FL.

A note from Dr. Grelling: “I have worked with young adults with disabilities throughout my career and collaborated with Dr. Rubin for over a decade. At New Directions California we offer a huge array of supports - psychotherapy, social skills training, vocational training, academic counseling, financial management, and life management skills; but we do so in an environment that is also fun and friendly. Our California team has worked hard to bring the best of the Florida program to our site while putting our unique California spin on things. We invite you to come for a visit and see what our wonderful CA program has to offer.”

- Kent Grelling, PhD

Students can take the BART system from Pleasant Hill to downtown San Francisco in less than 45 minutes. There are numerous hiking and biking trails throughout Pleasant Hill leading to the expansive views at Mt Diablo State Park and Briones Regional Park. Students can also take day trips to the ancient redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument, the beaches of Santa Cruz or any of the numerous professional sports venues in the area. What's more, the grandeur of Yosemite Valley and the ski slopes of Lake Tahoe are each just 3 hours from our site.
